Products Description

202 stainless steel wire is a type of chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel alloy. It is often used as a cost-effective alternative to 304 stainless steel, as it contains less nickel and includes manganese to maintain its austenitic structure. It has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and high strength.

Steel GradeCSiMnPSCrMoNiother
202≤0.15≤1.007.5-10≤0.06≤0.0317~19-4.0~6.0N≤0.25

Features

● Good corrosion resistance: Compared with traditional 304 stainless steel wire, 202 stainless steel wire has better corrosion resistance and is suitable for general anti-rust environment.

● High strength: 202 stainless steel wire has higher strength, especially after cold processing, it can provide strong structural strength.

● Low cost: 202 stainless steel wire contains less nickel content and uses some manganese, nitrogen and other elements. The manufacturing cost is lower than 304 stainless steel, so it has a higher cost performance.

● Good weldability: 202 stainless steel wire has good welding performance and can be connected by conventional welding methods.

● Heat resistance: 202 stainless steel wire has certain heat resistance, but compared with other austenitic stainless steels (such as 304), its stability at high temperature is slightly worse.

● Oxidation resistance: Due to the high content of manganese, 202 stainless steel wire has good oxidation resistance and can resist certain high temperature oxidation.

● Magnetism: 202 stainless steel wire contains more manganese and will become slightly magnetic after cold processing.

Application

1. Industrial Applications

● Springs and Fasteners: Used in manufacturing springs, screws, bolts, and other fasteners due to its good strength and formability.

● Wire Mesh and Screens: Ideal for creating wire mesh, filters, and screens for industrial, agricultural, and architectural purposes.

● Cables and Ropes: Used in cables and wire ropes for light to medium-duty applications.

2. Consumer Goods

● Kitchenware: Used in making kitchen utensils, cutlery, and cookware due to its corrosion resistance and affordability.

● Decorative Items: Commonly used in decorative wires, jewelry, and craft items because of its aesthetic appeal and ease of shaping.

● Hardware: Used in nails, pins, and other small hardware components.

3. Construction and Architecture

● Structural Components: Used in lightweight structural parts, such as brackets and supports.

● Architectural Trim: Suitable for decorative trims, railings, and facades due to its corrosion resistance and polished finish.

4. Automotive Industry

● Trim and Molding: Used in automotive trim, molding, and decorative parts.

● Exhaust Systems: Occasionally used in exhaust components where high corrosion resistance is not critical.

 5. Medical and Food Industry

● Medical Instruments: Used in non-critical medical tools and equipment.

● Food Processing: Suitable for wire baskets, trays, and other equipment in food processing due to its corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning.

6. Agriculture

● Fencing and Netting: Used in agricultural fencing, netting, and animal enclosures due to its durability and resistance to rust.

7. Arts and Crafts

● Sculptures and Artwork: Popular in creating sculptures, wire art, and DIY projects because of its flexibility and aesthetic finish.
